This is one of my favorite value wines of the year. Very smooth and approachable, this wine is a blend of cabernet sauvignon, sangiovese, merlot, syrah and cabernet franc. The cab sauv and the syrah give it some weight and depth, allowing the merlot to come through with its fruit. The oak is present too, but doesn’t dominate. The nose is a little reticent, but gives up some nice floral tones, some earth and a touch of cedar. At $11 a bottle, this is a no-brainer. Pairs well with food too – it was delicious with a marinated pork chop topped with a pinot noir gastrique. Keep it on hand for everyday drinking. Stock up – and drink up!
